This course is designed to kickstart your career and provide you with the skills and techniques needed to become a qualified hairdresser. Learning takes place in our commerical salon, providing you with customer experience, alongside theory and practical lessons. You will also be required to complete an industry placement, this is something we will help you find and complete.

Throughout the academic year you will complete minor assignments and projects that will help build your confidence. Your final qualification will be based upon an assessment of practical skills, completion of online multiple choice exams, assignments, presentations and observations.

Course Structure

Modules on this course include: Cutting womens hair, The art of colouring, Hair setting and dressing womens hair, Skills for client consultation and Perming womens hair.

Entry Requirements

Level 1 hairdressing qualification and GCSE maths and English at C/4.

Assessment methods

Written exams, practicals, assignments, portfolios and presentations.

Progression

This course will able you to gain employment as a junior stylist to develop your skills further. Alternatively you may wish to progress onto our advanced hairdressing course to learn more skills and techniques.
